PRIVACY POLICY FOR GPS LAND AREA MEASURE
Last Updated: September 8, 2026
Effective Date: September 8, 2026
Welcome to GPS Land Area Measure ("we," "our," "us," or the "App"), developed
and operated by GPS Land Area Measure Team ("Developer"). We are deeply committed
to protecting your privacy and ensuring you have complete visibility and control
over your data.
This Privacy Policy explains how our iOS application collects, uses, stores,
and protects information when you download, install, and use GPS Land Area
Measure (including any related features, services, and export capabilities).
By installing or using GPS Land Area Measure, you consent to the practices
described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please
uninstall and discontinue using the application.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. SUMMARY OF CORE PRIVACY PRINCIPLES
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- On-Device Data Processing: All geospatial surveys, coordinates, perimeter
calculations, area measurements, notes, and custom titles are processed and
stored locally on your device via Apple's SwiftData framework.
- No Server Storage of Survey Data: We do not operate external cloud servers
that store, ingest, sell, or analyze your private land boundary measurements.
- Transparent Permissions: Location and motion/compass access are requested
strictly for real-time measurement functionality while using the App.
- User Control: You retain full ownership and control over your survey records
and can delete them at any time.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT AND HOW WE USE IT
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A. Location Data (CoreLocation)
- What We Access: When granted permission ("While Using the App"), the App
accesses your device's GPS hardware, latitude, longitude, altitude, horizontal
accuracy, and course data.
- Purpose:
1. To show your live position on the map interface.
2. To record GPS waypoints when using the "Walk / GPS Live Tracking"
measurement mode.
3. To calculate real-time geodesic distances and land areas between placed
boundary markers.
4. To calibrate compass heading telemetry.
- Retention & Transmission: Location coordinates are processed strictly in
real-time on your device and saved into your local SwiftData database only when
you explicitly save a survey. Location data is NEVER sent to our servers or
tracked in the background.
B. Compass & Motion Telemetry (CoreMotion / CoreLocation Heading)
- What We Access: Real-time magnetic heading and true heading sensor data.
- Purpose: To orient the map display and provide real-time compass navigation
relative to your field measurement pins.
- Retention: This data is ephemeral and is not stored or transmitted.
C. Local Survey Content (SwiftData & File System)
- What Is Stored: Custom survey titles, polygon/polyline coordinates, area
calculations (e.g., acres, hectares, sq. meters, sq. feet), perimeter
distances, notes, timestamps, elevation statistics, and map snapshot
thumbnails.
- Storage Location: Exclusively stored within your device's secure local app
sandbox using Apple's SwiftData framework.
- Exporting Data: When you export surveys as PDF documents, CSV coordinate
tables, PNG images, KML, or GeoJSON files, these files are generated on-device
and shared exclusively via Apple's native iOS Share Sheet
(UIActivityViewController).
D. Subscriptions & In-App Purchases (StoreKit & RevenueCat)
- Service Provider: RevenueCat, Inc. and Apple App Store.
- What Is Processed: When you purchase or restore a premium subscription, Apple
securely handles transaction processing and billing. RevenueCat processes
anonymous app user identifiers and StoreKit receipt tokens to validate active
entitlements (e.g., ad-free experience, unlimited exports).
- Payment Information: We do NOT collect, process, or store your credit card
numbers, banking details, or billing addresses. All financial transactions
are managed securely by Apple Inc.
E. Advertising & Tracking (Google AdMob & User Messaging Platform)
- Service Provider: Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) and Google User Messaging
Platform (UMP).
- Data Collected by Third Parties: For users on the free version of the App,
Google AdMob may collect and process device identifiers (such as IDFA, where
permitted by iOS App Tracking Transparency), coarse location, IP address, and
app usage diagnostics to serve banner, interstitial, native, or app open
advertisements.
- Consent Management: In regions subject to the General Data Protection
Regulation (GDPR) / UK GDPR or California privacy laws, the Google UMP consent
dialogue is presented to allow you to customize, grant, or revoke consent for
personalized ads and cookies.
- Opting Out / Ad-Free Option: You can upgrade to our Premium Subscription to
remove all third-party advertisements completely. You can also adjust ad
tracking settings in iOS under Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.
F. App Configuration & Diagnostics (Firebase Remote Config)
- Service Provider: Google Firebase Remote Config.
- Purpose: We use Firebase Remote Config to dynamically fetch non-identifying
operational parameters (such as feature flags, default unit settings, and ad
frequency rules).
- Data Collected: Anonymous device characteristics (e.g., OS version, device
model, app version) without collecting personal identities.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES AND SDKS
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We work with trusted third-party SDK providers who may collect non-personal
information subject to their independent privacy policies:
1. Apple MapKit & CoreLocation
- Purpose: Map rendering, satellite imagery, GPS telemetry
- Privacy Policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
2. Google AdMob & UMP
- Purpose: In-app advertising and privacy consent
- Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
3. Google Firebase Remote Config
- Purpose: Remote configuration and operational flags
- Privacy Policy: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy
4. RevenueCat
- Purpose: Subscription entitlement verification
- Privacy Policy: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4. HOW YOUR DATA IS STORED AND PROTECTED
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. On-Device Encryption: Your saved survey history is stored within your device's
sandboxed local storage protected by iOS hardware-level Data Protection
encryption.
2. No Account Required: You do not need to register, create a profile, or submit
your email address to use GPS Land Area Measure.
3. Data Loss & Backups: Because your measurements are stored locally, surveys
are included in your personal encrypted iCloud/iTunes device backups if you
have iOS backups enabled. Uninstalling the App without a backup will delete
locally saved surveys.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5. USER RIGHTS AND DATA MANAGEMENT
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Depending on your jurisdiction (including the EU/EEA under GDPR, the UK under
UK GDPR, and California under CCPA/CPRA), you have specific privacy rights:
- Access & Portability: You can export all your coordinates and survey data at
any time in standard formats (CSV, PDF, PNG, KML/GeoJSON).
- Deletion & Erasure: You can delete individual surveys inside the App's History
tab at any time, or permanently erase all app data by uninstalling the App
from your device.
- Withdrawal of Consent:
* Location Permissions: You can disable or modify GPS permissions at any
time via iOS Settings > GPS Land Area Measure > Location.
* Ad Consent: You can reconfigure ad consent at any time through the in-app
Settings menu ("Privacy Consent Options") or via iOS Settings > Privacy &
Security > Tracking.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
6. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY (COPPA & GDPR COMPLIANCE)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
GPS Land Area Measure is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or under
16 in the EU/EEA). We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information
from children. If we become aware that personal information has been collected
from a child without verified parental consent, we will take immediate steps to
delete such data.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7. CALIFORNIA PRIVACY RIGHTS (CCPA / CPRA)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights
Act (CPRA), California residents have the right to:
1. Know what personal information is collected, disclosed, or sold.
2. Request deletion of their personal information.
3. Opt-out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for cross-context
behavioral advertising.
We do not sell personal data or survey records. Third-party ad networks (Google
AdMob) may collect device identifiers for advertising purposes if permitted by
your iOS tracking settings. You may exercise your right to limit ad tracking in
your iOS settings or via the in-app privacy consent settings.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
8. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We may update our Privacy Policy periodically to reflect new features,
operational practices, or legal requirements. When updates occur:
- The "Last Updated" and "Effective Date" at the top will be revised.
- Material changes will be communicated through an in-app notice or updated
App Store release notes.
Your continued use of GPS Land Area Measure after changes are posted constitutes
your acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
9. CONTACT AND INQUIRIES
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you have any questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy
or your data, please contact us email.
